new mini album and new paper pad

There's a new DCWV Paper Pad available now at JoAnn Stores. You can see that right HERE.
But what I really want to show you...
is what I made with it.
Yes. Welcome to today's version of Show & Tell:

Using the DCWV Get It Girl Paper Pad
plus Color Fresh Puffy Stickers
oh and Story Line Sticker Book...
I used photos from the recent Ali Edwards Pieces Of Us photo challenge to create a new mini album.

This newest addition to my mini album collection is a great assortment of those above papers and embellishments. Plus photos of me from Ali's prompts.
It's never too late to play with these photo challenges. This challenge was a great way to look for what is right now personally you by way of different poses.
See her post HERE for more details if you too would love this kind of photo prompt.

This mini album is a tag album with a cover. Inside the pages are connected by a book ring. Sort of old school. But it's an element I like to return to often. This page here is crafted against a piece of blush cardstock. Using vellum I sewed on a pocket with gold metallic thread. Each of the pages have a tab that is crafted from the Get It Girl Paper Pad. Then I used Color Fresh Ephemera and Honey & Spice Washi tape to embellish the pocket. These supplies are available at JoAnn. They will also be sourced below.

As I made the mini album, I simply placed 2x3-inch white cardstock photo mats in place. I had not finished the photo challenge yet, and so was not sure what photo was to go where. This page represents one of the 'hands' photos. Then it too was embellished with the Get It Girl Paper. Plus more Color Fresh and Honey & Spice.

Interactive pockets will always have a home in my mini albums. I crafted this one here to hold the This or That sticker from the Storyline Sticker Book. A page does not always have to have a photo. Spaces for journaling or including 'currently' type documenting are important to include. Especially in a mini album about you.

This was not the most easiest photo challenge to participate in. Taking photos of oneself is a bit pretentious. But also a bit too much of a real look of the real you. Don't be afraid to use a filter to soften up lines. Although, that said, I did include later a photo that was what I call 'straight out of the camera'. These views of our different selves are good to have. Helpful to analyze what is happening in  real life. And will be a good a story in later years to have from the right now. Trust me. It always happens like that. I'm always delighted to look back at these photos + words.

This photo essay for me was actually a really good reminder to just have fun. Life is super serious. As it should be. What often does not happen without effort is the lighter moments. The fun connections. Even the look at ourselves can be so judgmental and harsh. Use vellum if you need to, but get those photos of you taken. And have fun with the real you. Lighten up on yourself. Let's try not to make all the things so serious.

Feet. Feet. Feet. Feet. So many many feet you meet. Harkening back to my Dr Suess days and endlessly reading to my littles, I thought an essay on feet, where those feet take you, where they stay some days, was a great look into our current right now also. I did not take as many feet photos as I had really wanted. That would be me getting too serious about my day and simply forgetting to slow down for the photo. But I am super happy with what I did get. I adorned this page with die cuts and labels. Supplies that are staples in my paper crafting. Also included my simple use of notching a swatch of pattern paper and including it as part of the page.

The final page holds another pocket. Plus I made a tag from one of the word cut-away papers.  I loved the sentiment but it was on a 4x6-sized tag. Cutting it down to size with a tag die cut for this page was a good idea.

So. Another mini album full of photo and story. Photo prompts provided by Ali Edwards and her brilliant imagination. Plus, a super fun paper pad from JoAnn Stores providing all the pattern and color as well as word cards to make this or any other mini album.

Stay tuned for a walk through video.
plus I think version number too from this paper pad as there are more shades, hues, and patterns to play with .

  3. I just read your e-mail for today (March 28). I love reading your postings and love your work. To me it always looks so relaxing and fresh. In today's posting I noticed a type of "bull dog" clip. It was gold and appeared to be very flat. Could you tell me where they are available? I'm preparing to do a trip scrapbook and would like to incorporate something like that. Thanks and keep up the inspiring work.
