january memory planner review

Are you a Memory Planner page maker?

Do you follow along with that community as well as Heidi's monthly Stop the Blur classes to help add to your pages?

Do you have any regrets for keeping a Memory Planner?

I'm betting not.

So just why is it that Memory Planner works?

There are a couple of reasons I would love to suggest. While there are more than one reason why Memory Planner works, I am going to attempt to keep the idea to one. This video HERE also supports a couple of ideas. I've heard from many of you. I know them to be true. Memory Planner works because:

1. Memory Planner is your story. Why is that so important? Because if there is anything I can't stress more is that these pages are your pages. These pages hold your stories. Your story is not like anyone elses.  Not only is comparison the thief of joy, it is also a stealer of creativity. So if you, my dear friend, are going about Memory Planner, or any other creative endeavor, hoping that it will look like someone elses work, then it's not your work anymore. It won't be YOUR story.

As I stress in this month's memory planner video walk through, or at least strive to stress, you do not have to have all the photos. You do not have to have your pages brimming with stuff. You do not have to be on holiday every week to have a story to tell.

One of the things I attempted to share this month, and you can see that played out a bit more in detail right HERE, was just how simple a day can look like.
A photo...maybe.
A journaling spot. Because I will not let you off the hook about the actual telling part.
Then maybe a printable from Heidi's Stop the Blur monthly printable page.

That's all it has to be!!!

Sorry...she got a little out of focus above, but that's OK too.

Here's what I want to encourage: practice makes better.

I hear a lot : 'you are so good at this'.

Friends! I have been Memory Planning since...well, since high school to be literal. But in this concept that Heidi Swapp crafted? Since 2014. That's 9 years of books and pages and story!!! Yes. I get a little excited about this.

And it's not a matter of being 'good' at it. It's a matter of honing, or perhaps, cultivating, this skill of being aware and mindful of the happenings around you. How a song made you feel. How a quote inspired your thinking. How a passage of scripture set you on the straight and narrow again. 'Getting good' at this is a matter of discovering the simple nuances found in your day, and making something of them by taking a photo or writing a paragraph.

But that might now happen over night. Honing and cultivating are key here. It's the simple things of life that make up our stories.

To feel a bit more of what is being said here, head over to this VIDEO. Look at the pages. See all the writing. And remember: practice makes better.

  1. I love the simplicity of this week! But all of the little details gives us so much too look at and inspire. And your granddaughter is just so adorable.
