The Collected Book | Pockets and Tags and Ephemera...oh my!

the collecting continues

Last week...we began.

We made what I am calling a Collected Book. 

And this week we are giving our book some Collected things.

Welcome to Part Two of THE COLLECTED BOOK.

A video series this month up on the YouTube that has us all kinds of inspired to see what is next as we add creative nuances to said book.

There is so much to love about a handmade book. One of which is the opportunity the pages and folds provide to created pockets, if you will, that hold more beautiful things. 

This week we are layering in the pockets that are integrated in this book. Then a tag that peeks our from between the pages. Then more to be discovered when you open the book.

That's what we are adding in this week's video.

Remember how we built pockets into the structure of the book last week in THIS HOW-TO? Now then, this week we will fill those pockets with tags.

But not just tags. I mean. I love me a tag. But these tags are just a little bit more something-something.

The tags will have their own moveable element. Interactive tags if you will. The tag(s) become a whole thing.

And another thing I LOVE about that? Is to be able to view those tags from the closed book peeking up and inviting us in.

Then...there is a side pocket. I have already begun to gather little this and thats to belong to that little extra feature. Not that I know exactly what story these pieces will tell yet. This space can hold photographs, ephemera, journal cards, quotes, notes, anything our creative hearts can imagine. 

As we continue to build on this book, it's not about trying to finish a project and then setting it aside. It's more about taking our time and adding elements and allowing this book to be available for whatever creative or physical story we may want to tell. I am here for the making for making sake. The setting aside of time and beautiful materials to be still and discover what can be made from these pieces.
