let's dream...

1.22.2014

Last year I was inspired to create a dream album. Not only was the album a beautiful work of mixed patterns and pockets and clear pages playing host to pretty embellishments, but it became this space where I did what is actually very hard for me to do...to dream.
It started with writing down notes from an inspirational talk that Heidi Swapp shared with several other creatives. I remember being so drawn into her words and her dreams and the power with which she shared the importance of having powerful dreams. So at her prompt I created last year's, what I call, a Dream Album, and started dreaming in it.
At the end of this past year, as I went back and re-read what I wrote, my draw dropped to realize what had transpired over a year's time...dreams had come true, or were in the works, or were just getting ready to begin. It was truly truly an amazing happening for me.

So this year I replicated that album using Memory Files and much of the new Hello Today collection (specifically the Memory File Kit).
I kept the cover unadorned as I am reaching for this album quite a bit early in the year and need the cover plain.

But inside starts with a lot of pretty stuff. I used a clear page just like last year. The first few pages have a lot of embellishment to them as a starting point. For me these pages draw me in and cause me to pause. The rest of the book is filled mainly with pages that are blank for me to write in and add quotes and photos as well.

And I do not hesitate to use letters and words to continue to push me in the direction of dreaming dreams daily.

As this album gets filled in, I know I will not do everything that I list...but the power of those written words will inspire me in a new place. The power of written words have amazing abilities over us. Those words must be nurtured and cared for, changed if needed, but definitely aspired to in the end.

for now...

  5. This is incredibly beautiful. you have inspired me to do the same. So many events in our lives happen and the details gets foggy over time. It would be nice to have an annual made for each year to see what has been accomplished and all the events throughout over time. I am so gonna make my own. Thanks for the inspiration Jamie. Might not be as beautiful as yours, using Heidi's gorgeous papers etc. ( not an option for me to get any very soon) but I just can't even not try to do one for me to document. You rock!
