Creating a Growth Journal with Journal Studio

You may recall a post I did years ago called Intentional Growth Planner.
Using a current Heidi Swapp Memory Planner I took to adding my notes from my daily reading into that planner. It was sort of a sketch note approach to outlining a book. This planner became one of my all time favorites and was a most beautiful way to track notes and quotes and inspiration from my daily readings.

Fast forward 2 years, and I am back at it. Part of my personal growth plan for 2019 includes upping my reading habit. But when I read books that would be classified as 'self help' genre of books, I take lots of notes. I want to remember what was read and learned so that I can apply these ideas to my life.

This time around I am choosing the Heidi Swapp GIVE Journal Kit.

The Heidi Swapp edition of the American Crafts Journal Studio is this year's choice for documenting growth and this reading habit. I just could not love the quality or the selection of these journal kits more. I may be gushing when I say, but I really am happy this collection came along.

With all the tags and stickers that are included in this collection, I am finding this a wonderfully creative way to make a home for my book notes. Starting with the entry page here: I used one of the month stickers from the sticker book (supply links included below) as a tracker for my daily reading habit. OK. so I may have missed a day or two. That's OK. I pick up the next day and move on. We have to be gentle with ourselves when we are growing ourselves.

Using a sort of sketch notes approach to this idea (you can do a 'sketch notes' search on Pinterest for more information on that) I am making a sort of outline for the applications in my reading. I'm a bullet point girl. The dot format in this insert from the GIVE Journal Kit is a perfect way to plot information and create bullet points for remembering.

The WeRMemoryKeepers Magnetic Numbers Stencil helps to contain some of these notes too. It came in handy when I wanted larger format numbers. Or even an icon to draw attention to a note written in the Journal Studio insert.

It may take a little longer to place said notes on to these pages. But I already know the benefit it is to me to have these creative reminders in place. I am always pulled back into that Intentional Planner from a few years back. The inspiration purposefully laid out on the pages draws me back into the learning. And I want that. It's worth everything to plot out these words and quotes.

And creatively speaking? Well. I just can't help myself. Adding washi tape and stickers and pattern paper (shown here with the new Color Fresh Paperline) is a story all in itself. This is a habit I have cultivated for years. It's my go-to. And I quite simply like it.

Whatever it takes to keep me motivated and inspired and...growing? Well. I'm gonna be found doing that. You can find me right here in this Journal Studio Journal Kit and insert writing all the things. And making pretty stuff.
