how a mini album has all my heart

junk mini album all my heart inspired

When you come upon a collection that is so compelling and inspiring that the project you set out to make practically makes itself.

That's how I feel about crafting this mini album. Crate Paper's All Heart has ALL MY HEART!
And I am not even kidding.
When I saw this debuted I could not wait to get my hands on this paper line.
It's inspiring and uplifting and encouraging and full of patterns that contrast and compliment and make me just want to make stuff.

Here's what I have so far. As this junk/mixed mini album...whatever you would like to call it, just keeps begging me to add to it. So far this is what has come of it.

Firstly, I knew I wanted interactive pages mixed with clear pages and paint and pattern. Vicki Boutin's Color Pop Coral Macaroon is PERFECT for adding some stenciling throughout. I used the Kaleidoscope Stencil Set + Color Pop Paint + Acetate Paper to create one of the opening pages.

You may want to pick these up for your own stash:

Quite often these clear pages are found in my books to add a see through aspect to the beginning pages. All Heart Pattern Paper plus Clear Stickers and Washi added to this opening first page.

The next page found under the acetate paper is folded back into itself.

The page flips open to reveal another page. Adding a few photos here and there this is becoming a super personal mini album. The words and vibe of All Heart is motivating just the need to craft and create. No real huge agenda. But rather a place to exercise creativity. Watch how the rest of this unfolds.

Envelopes are almost always part of these infamous mini albums. The WeRMemoryKeepers Envelope Punch Board is a well-loved tool. I pull that baby out often. The handmade envelope is holding All Heart Ephemera at the moment. The flower is fussy cut from pattern paper from the 6x8 Paper Pad.

The flap holds more Vicki Boutin Paint and Stencil plus plenty of paint splatters. Paint splatters? Because I can. Evidence that this book was all about play. A sort of creative release if you will.

Another addition to this book was the use of journal strips. One of my most favorite author is Madeleine L'Engle. Her writing on the artist's endeavor fuels me almost daily. Many of her quotes are found throughout this mixed book. These words fuel me. Adding only to the motivating factor of this mini album.

More envelopes were set in this book. And plenty of the All Heart Ephemera. Honestly. LOVE.

Creating backgrounds with the VB Stencil was a popular theme. I used her Foundations Media Paper.  It holds paint beautifully. Plus it was a more sturdy paper for the mini album.

More paint splatters. Strips of pattern paper. More journal strips. Plus Chipboard Stickers gave way to the simplicity of this page.

The front is covered with my most favorite paper, it's simply called Collage.

I took a cue from Heidi Swapp's Creative Pop this month. I applied Minc Glue Pen to the edge of the cover. After it was tacky I tapped the glue with Champagne Foil. This gave a great touch of foil subtly to the edges. I loved how this turned out.

Here is my call to action for you:
Make a junk journal. Or call it a mixed media book. Or call it a motivational art journal.
But most of all. Get All Heart and just play. Take some time to fuel your artful soul and play.
