Card Idea and Botanical Sentiments

tis the season for card ideas

As soon as this Botanical Borders and Sentiments Stamp Set arrived I knew this set was going to make simply pretty cards. These cards would evoke the season as well as the sentiment I wanted and needed the recipient to be given.

The sentiment fonts are completely on point and trend. The set is very versatile as I have already used this set previously for a halloween themed gift tag. The florals especially captured my watercolor loving daughter who wants to stamp them and play with color.

The base of the card is made with ScrapbookCom Exclusive Smooth Cardstock. The idea behind those cardstock pads is that they are perfectly sized for cards. And so what do you know, I used them actually for just that. The card cover flips up to reveal a pocket underneath to hold a sentiment, or ephemera you want to send to the recipient. Or, how about a MemoryDex card? Yeah, that idea just came to me right now. You can thank me later.

I used Pink Lemonade Stamping Ink to stamp a very subtle border to the bottom edge of the card. Can you see that there? It employs the stamp pattern to create a bit of a damask pattern on the cardstock. It's just one way to use the Botanical Borders on a card.

The same technique was used while crafting the sentiment strip. A subtle stamping ink creates a very delicate word flag. Any of these stamps can be used to create this look. Yet another way to put this stamp set to work creating beautiful cards.

I gathered the stamped sentiment banner, created another one from scrap pattern paper, and also stamped a border to the edge of that pink hued paper. Punching a hole at the top of these created a little tag cascade for this card. The label on the background is from the ScrapbookCom Sticker book, the Black and Rose Gold edition.

The champagne foiled die cut leaves was literally a cast off in my stash. I had previously foiled Toner Paper from the Surface Pad. Having not yet used it,  it was thrown into my drawer of scraps. I used Tim Holtz WildFlower Stems Die Set to cut out those leaves. Super seasonal now, right? And that Champagne foil is my favorite. I tucked that stem under the sentiment tags. It was the perfect finishing touch.

I hope you are inspired to make pretty cards today. The Botanical Borders with Sentiments is such a versatile stamp set as I have tried to show you here. This stamp set went from whimsical halloween themed birthday tag, to beautiful seasonal sentimental card. The ideas are already coming to me for many other pretty possibilities with this stamp set.
