For the Love of Making Tags | Textured Love Tag

for the love of tags

Love is in the air! Can you feel it...LOL.

Ah, dear friends...we need love in the air ALL the time. Not just in the middle of February.

Who's with me?

A couple of things happened recently when I watched Tim Holtz Valentines Make LIVE.

I was inspired to do what he inspired: pull together all the hearts and love kind of stamps and stencils and sentiments and have them at the ready for heart-filled makes.

Then...

...there was a technique he shared with one of his heart stencils. He took the stencil and Texture Paste and of course created that design on a tag.

After the texture paste was dry, he then repositioned the stencil back over the design, and using different ink colors, added color with Distress Oxides. Then #1: he could add different colors to the hearts and then #2: only the raised portion of the stencil design would be colored. I thought that was brilliant and I wanted to try it.

It's pretty subtle here as I used fairly light colored Oxide Ink. But you can still see a bit of an ombre effect that was created with this technique on the texture paste hearts. Do you think you will try this out too?

For the love sentiment, I stamped this image from ScrapbookCom's XOXO stamp set. Great stamp for anytime of year. Not just Valentine season. I used the new Embossing Ink to add the image to Art Paper. Then using Rangers Vintage Pearl Embossing Powder to cover the embossing ink I created this pearlesque stamped image.

Love how this turned out. Love the fun of that texture. Heck...I just love making tags.

You can find all the supplies for this tag HERE or see details below.

Hope this inspires you to gather all your heart and love things. Try a new techique. And then to share the love with someone else.
