hello memory planner!!!
It's been a minute since Memory Planner has been posted here on the o' blog. This girl here is feeling a bit of a fresh start. Honestly, I do believe it came out of this video HERE, in which I declared to you, my friends, how I want to go about documenting this 'new' year.
Have recently heard it said that to make a public pronouncement of something helps to hold one accountable. Maybe that is the fuel that I am feeling. Maybe that confession, if you will, is bringing with it my verbal influence of being better activated in this documenting style. Maybe words really do have power.
These pages found here in this 2024 Memory Planner unpacks the first week of the month of January. After the busy of December I am so very thankful for this fresh start. But not only that, when I was working on these pages, and looking back at these weeks as a whole, I came across a little discovery. That is unpacked a bit in this month's Memory Planner Walk-Thru video. And isn't that just the thing? Discovery? A little self discovery? Not in a selfish and narcissistic way. But rather in a much more broad mindfulness way.
This is actually a fairly complex subject. Not really wanting to dive into all those nuances at this time. Except to say this:
Memory keeping takes time. Documenting takes time. Writing it down is a discipline.
Does it need all the pretty stuff and techniques and color on a page to make it into something lasting? No. You already know that. Nope. Not at all. Not even a little. To put pen to paper and write thoughts and insights and words is one of the most powerful things you can do in the evidence making of your life lived. That in and of itself is enough. And it is also so much! If you were to do just that, daily, the journal of life you would have would be absolutely amazing! The Diary of Anne Frank, anyone?
I want very badly to just leave that right there. What was stated above. Because that in itself is a very lofty ambition to have.
But no...I can't leave well enough alone...I have to add this:
There is a meditative, maybe even memory planner therapy-quality, that goes into taking time from whatever else we might think is important to do, and to put the things on the page. The 'making it pretty' or 'adding the stuff' literally slows us down. It brings pause. It brings with it insight that is only ours to have. It brings enrichment to our lives by way of visual evidence on paper.
I'm feeling a whole lecture and preach and class coming from this today. Gosh darn it if I just don't feel a little passionate about this. I do! For so many reasons. So, for now, let me just ask you to think about it. Think about what was said here. Think about just writing a little down daily. Think about your story, and the life you want to live.
Thank you so much for reading this today. Would love to hear from you in the comments. Just even say hi, so that I know you are you. And have a lovely day.
