sparking ideas
A forever way to create foundations on which to layer all our happy papery goodnes is with gorgeous Mixed Media Foundations. That was unpacked last week in this tutorial HERE. Just So good!
This week we are taking paper and die cutting into tag shapes, thus the Tag Foundations, and building beautiful layers for all our papery projects

For the love of dies. More specifically tag dies. But, Jamie, can't we just cut a tag shape if we know how to use scissors. Why yes. Yes you can! However -comma- the edges that a die makes on paper is not like any kind of edge that I can trim with scissors. There is a finished edge that a die makes. I'm a little obsessed with that finished edge.
And, if it's a stitched die, well then, hello stitched edges! I can't make that with scissors either.
Oh, and then if there is a little loopy-d-loop at the top? Well forget about it. I'm never gonna be able to make THAT shape.
So. Tag Dies + Foundations is this week's making idea.
And let's point out the obvious here too -
when using a tag die on patterns of paper, there is this opportunity to isolate patterns in the paper that then make for fantastic tags already at the ready because of the nature of the pattern paper. In THIS week's video watch when the die cutting segment takes place. There is the capturing of a butterfly. Subtle text. Book like paper imagery. And even open white space that is an invitation to the layers that can be assembled on these tag foundations.

Thank you so much for spending some creative time with me today. I hope these projects today spark ideas for the making. Be sure and watch the included video. A walk through of three tag foundations and the clustering of layers those die cuts invite.
Let's gather beautiful paper and make simply for the love of making.
If you have had anything sitting in your cart of have been thinking about gathering supplies for upcoming projects, this might be a nice time to scoop them up.
