to simply learn something new
Sometimes the best reason to take a class is simply to learn something you've never made before.
And then that's where imagination kicks in.
To be given the tools, the mechanics, if you will, for how to build a thing then creates the foundation to take those ideas where YOU want them to go.
That is one of the greatest things about this book build called SOMETHING NEW.
This was a break through project for me coming out of a very dark time in my life. Which is why I called it SOMETHING NEW. Not only was this era, a door that I made myself walk through emotionally, a sort of saving of my mindset that was NOT in a good place, but it was also literally a fresh way to make a book.
Which then, (refer back to the third line up above) which then created a framework for me that I have returned to again and again. I love the concept that is this SOMETHING NEW book. It works for every new collection. For every collection you have stashed in your, well, stash. For anything you want to create a home for be it travel journaling, art journaling, a technique catalog.
It's the idea that lies behind all the classroom projects that I build: they are foundational ideas in which you the maker can bring any other idea into and make it all yours.
SOMETHING NEW holds all the things you have told me you love.
- unique book binding
- page after page construction
- interactive elements
- openings and foldy things
- embellished cluster idea to use again and again
