for the love of altered things
As makers who exercise their creative, I think it would be true to say we look for what we can make. We see boxes, containers, canvases in a different way. What can we do with it? How could we alter it? What would it look like papered up?
We are those who take an ordinary thing and make it extraordinary by way of our imagination and inspiration.
No less so with this idea today.
I had the beautiful opportunity to be invited to ScrapbookCom's Watch Channel to share any making idea I wanted. I landed on this fairly simple altered envelope concept that I love to make again and again.
You can watch that how-to, start to finish tutorial right HERE.
Many of you commented stating you had not seen this idea before. That you would have to try it. Even a few of you did just that as soon as you saw the video.
I LOVE THAT!
Thank you for the trying of a new thing.
This taking of a plain A2 envelope, cutting it open, and layering it with paper and patterns and ephemera is not new. But it's new every time you take YOUR paper stash, and YOUR favorite ephemera, and YOUR creativity and craft a fresh look each time you make it.
I call this: when the card is the gift.
For in fact, it is a very giftable item all unto itself.
But it's also a carrier of a gift too.
You told me throughout the day after this video dropped that you would be adding photo. Gift card. Note. Tag...yes...make yet another makey thing and add a tag! That you would be making this for birthday. For wedding. For all the reasons you would give somebody something. That this would be part of that giving.
FOR THE LOVE!
Thank you for your enthusiasm for this idea.
Let me know if in fact you will be trying this too.
So, what will you need:
- an envelope. and seriously, any size will do. You could even make one
- paper. do you happen to have any stash? Well then, maybe you need an excuse for a new collection. I used Arden Creative Studio Amber Ledgers for this card in particular. B E A U T I F U L!
- ephemera. to layer on the front of the 'card'. oh...and the inside too! Let's not forget to add in the layers to the inside for there is plenty of room
- ribbon, die cut leaves, sentiment
