how to scrap all of one's heart

There is a little bit of a shift in storytelling and scrapbooking those stories that has occurred in recent years. It’s this shift in the subject. So many of my stories and albums center around my children. Those are not the only stories. But these tomes do make up a large part of the pages of stories found in my album library.

What use to be ‘easy’ to scrap: the cute faces, the funny little explores, the new skills learned…these are not the stories of now. The older of my kids are not even home now. I don’t get to see them daily and explore life with them. These moments are now very few and have become times together in a year, rather than weekly or even daily.

And that’s OK. I want them to move on in their story. This is good.

But the rest is on me. I simply forget to drop what I am doing. Observe what is going on around me. And to capture that on camera. It is on me to look for these moments. To be an observer and intentional finder as well as teller of story.

That’s just what happened this past Spring Break. A little moment opened up. A story of my oldest at home daughter. And am I glad I was aware enough to capture a few shots of her just in this moment. A moment found out in the neighborhood with several other neighbors. Just all hanging out on our drive. And art chalking the sidewalk.

And here’s the thing: the story is not even what you would consider great. It’s not even a narrative of happenings. Or a he said she said. It was just this moment. A look at a girl. Who is quickly coming into her own. And a capture of her right here. Right now. And this mama could not be happier for having had this point in time.

Not only am I thrilled I grabbed some, to me, awesome photos of this little glimpse of life, but having All Heart by Crate Paper on hand was the perfect compliment to telling this story of this Girl.

I posted here last week a JUNK JOURNAL that came from exploring this paper line. And friends, I am not even kidding…I adore this paper. The sentiments are crazy awesome. The whole girl vibe and the inspiring words found on embellishment and stamp. The pink and kraft and black are just perfect to tell this kind of vibing story.

Yes. I am in love with All Heart. It’s true. I have confessed. Now let’s just move on and enjoy, shall we?

I used a PaigeEvans Star Background cut file as a compliment to this page. Cutting that out on American Craft Textured Cardstock I then splattered with Vicky Boutin Color Pop…because the pink in that set is PERFECT for the colors of this paper collection.  So black and pink was splattered. And those stars worked with the stars from All Heart to give some texture and dimension to the page. You know. My favoritist things on a page layout.

The 6x8 Paper Pad is perfect for trimming out and using as layers under the other patterns and photo.

The title…yeah…I just came up with Girl. Seems fitting. Cause that’s what she is called sometimes. The pink Thickers have these sort of wonky, not-the-same font working for them. I love how this vibe blends perfectly with the rest of the energy found on this page.

Don't worry if your story is not monumental. A big event. Just get the camera out. Print the photos from inside. And tell all the stories with all your heart.
