Creating a Heidi Swapp Art Walk Adventure Mini Album by Jamie Pate

the versatility of the art walk collection

Today I am up on the Heidi Swapp blog sharing a most recent mini album.
This next edition in my ever growing mini album library is also an Art Walk Paper Line DIY Mini Album.
This collection of Art Walk Mini Albums is a growing collection as I am a little obsessed by the Art Walk Paper Line.
And making it work for different stories I want told. I want to share with you just how I did that.

Like this hike themed Mini Album.
(Note to self: I should have added Hike to the edge of the album with the Chipboard Alphas...hmm...)

Today's post here will include a video walk through so that I can explain a little the idea behind this particular mini album. And to explain a little how the album came together.

Art Walk DIY Adventure Mini Album Walk Through

You can see how this album became 'mini albums within a mini album'.

Below is a look at all the pages in this mini album. Realizing Art Walk is a very versatile collection. Full of painterly papers. Great greens and blues for all the vacation photos. Take a look at how the rest of these pages played out:

First page flap open all the way revealing hidden journaling in the middle portion.

Allowing plenty of space with this full page for some of the journaling. Using label stickers plus clear stickers for the embellishment. Plus the Storyline Chapters Stamp to give home to the date.

Love this opening page with our family photo taken on this adventure. Layered over vellum that was stenciled in a dot pattern with Ranger Texture Paste. It's sort of soft but works with the rustic of this book too.

Under the vellum is what I call the 'mini inside the mini'. This 4x6-inch book was meant to hold all the scenic photos I took.

There is little by way of embellishment on these pages. Just a tab on the page edge. And that is OK by me.

After the 4x6-inch mini album is another insert. Different sized pages allow photos to hang over and allows other photos to peek to the front.

Notched banners, page tabs, stamped sentiments: those are the items that are mostly added to the photos.

This full page journal spot mimics the one at the front of the book. A technique I often employ: repeating elements.

Note to self and you with older teens: take ALL the photos you can of these almost adults. There is coming a time when they are just not around as much as they use to be. This day trip proved to be one of those times when we were ALL together. It does not happen as much as it use to anymore.
Take the photo.
Print the photo.
Tell the story.

This mini album became a bit of an epic look at a day in the life of this family's many adventures. Thank you for staying to the end.
