the special place of die cuts
In this lovely pastime we call paper crafting, nothing quite captures the imagination like die cutting. Of all the tools available to us paper artists, birthday dies can hold a special place. Dies offer endless creating possibilities for personalizing and creating intricate designs. Are you familiar with the transforming power of taking simple sheets of paper and creating details and multi layered works of art? Well, you should be. LOL. These here in particular are perfect for celebrating birthdays or any celebratory occasion.
There are many reasons this paper artsy girl loves dies and die cuts. The depth of detail that be achieved through these layers just gets us every time. Am I right? The ease of which we can create three dimensional depth is fantastic. As seen in the techniques shown on this birthday page, the simplicity of taking Party Fan Dies and layering them in pairs, along with those adorable Tassels and Birthday Banner Dies creates a sophisticated and visually appealing design. To say that I adore this touch of elegance is an understatement. Mixed in here with 49 and Market's Kaleidiscope it's a paper party just waiting to celebrate.
For those of you possibly new to the world of die cutting, the art of layering can seem daunting...at first. But what do I always say? Time & practice. With a bit of time and practice (as well as some patience with your own self), these similar results can be achieved. Personally, selecting the Birthday Tassel Banner along with the Party Banners could be a great way to start to experiment. Playing with these layers and experimenting with different papers and patterns is just one great way to practice. Oh...and also...adhesive is crucial! I'm a huge 'fan' (see what I did there?) of Double Sided Foam Squares and Circles for helping to elevate the layers.
Not only are these dies beautiful to put to play on a scrapbook page celebrating a recent birthday, but take the same idea and apply to a card front. You will want to do this again and again. I promise! These cards make for the most special of customized cards. The process itself can be meditative and rewarding. This is what we do, we express our paper artsy selves in a way that creates something truly special and beautiful. This is why we do it again and again.
This craft, this art of using birthday dies in paper crafting offers such a lovely way to celebrate the moment at hand. Here's the thing: once you start to play with these layers, to discover the depth of detail that can be created, you will return to it again and again.
And if you are a seasoned maker here, you know what I mean. You know what it is to take dies and make them fresh and fun and creative every time you take the time for a creative session.
Turn simple pieces of paper into something special. Use your heart and imagination to make something beautiful today.
