create something beautiful
Seems safe to say that we find something very satisfying in the making of something very beautiful. Otherwise, I do not think you would be here. So then, thank you for being here. This past week's video tutorial became a small commentary on the versatile and meaningful making with our hands. How sometimes, hopefully more than just sometimes, this slows us down. Causes us to be present in the making. And then allows for a most lovely make to be the result.
This past week's project had me diving into this new Sizzix \ 49 and Market Laced Folio Die Set. This set is truly becoming more than just the folio you see here. As I share in the VIDEO, there are variations on a theme. Plus more than one way to use the dies to add to the folio. Plus, as I read comments around the socials in response to this video, you all are thinking of even more ways to make this die something beautiful. Love when that happens!
Just what is included in this die set:
- base folio panels that could also be utilized to add pages inside the folio
- a pocket flap for the inside
- a couple of stamp dies that are so versatile!
- plus a closure if one desires to add that to the folio
As are all our making tools and supplies, these pieces we collect are always an invitation to slow it all down.
The invitation to pause and enjoy making.
The invitation to create with our hands and discover what we can create.
The invitation to tell our story by way of our choices of paper and embellishment.
The invitation to make beautiful somethings that can be shared with others.
I believe this making hobby is a restorative hobby. My encouragement is to indeed take the time to sit. To create. To follow through a process that slows down the mind. Quiets the thoughts. Nourishes the heart. It's sort of an art of resistance. Resisting the break neck speed in which the world is moving. Creating these cuts and punching out the bits and layering the papers is a beautiful act of presence. (isn't that a great term? not original to me.)
So are you ready? This Laced Folio Die set is now available and you can shop for it here at ScrapbookCom. And as always I would love to see what you make. Be sure and tag me in the socials if you have indeed crafted with this die set.
