How To Store Active, Short Term and Long Term

Quite often I get asked the question:

'How do you store ______?'

Honestly, I believe finding our storage solutions and work flow can be a work in process. Yes, process. But there are some things that I put to work and then I can say 'done' and move on.

This 6 Tabbed Storage Box has been in use here in the studio for a L O N G time.

I'm a fan of active storage. Short term storage. and long term storage.

Active storage are the items I am actively using now. The collection that is being used day in and day out. The ephemera I am reaching for. The stencils in active rotation. The must have stamps that the page needs right now.

Versus short term storage which is stash that is here in the studio that I may still pull out and put to use, but it's not in site on my work space or project trays.

Then, there is long term storage. And that is where this Tabbed Storage Box comes in. One way I utilize this Storage box is for stencils that I am not actively using. The stencils are not something I am reaching for, but I MAY need them at another date, so they live in the long term storage closet organized in these Tabbed Files.

+ Sticker Paper (and this is really good sticker paper)

Die cut the sticker paper and use as labels for these tabs or anything that needs a label.
