the magic continues

There are quite a few supplies here in the studio that get rebooted again and again. This (almost) autumnal time of making is no exception. It's this looking at our supplies not just as supplies, or even more stuff, but rather looking at them as possibilities.

And oh the possibilities that abound. It's what we are all about.

That's where we are headed this week.

It's Part 3 in THE COLLECTED BOOK Series. It sort of feels we are just getting started, as there are so many directions we could go in. This time we are making our own ephemera. It starts with paper. Then color. Oh the glorious color. Stamped imagery. And then cutting it all apart and building a little collection of useful ephemera.

This all simply adds to the COLLECTED aspect of this book. This little accordion is becoming the holder of good things. This week's creative endeavor is just adding to it all.

Think of it as a great exploration in our found and true creativity.

We are gonna start with paper. You know I am a fan of Mixed Media Paper that holds color and pigment and water oh so well.

Then building a palette of color on that medium. And here is where it gets SO good. It's not about perfection. It's about play. And exploration. And simply seeing what comes of trying a thing out.

Then we add a simple layer of stamps. Pull out your favorite textures and scripts and what not. I mean, the possibilities for this are truly endless. I mean it!

Then we cut it apart. Yep. We are not keeping that sheet of paper in one piece. I mean. We could. Truly. There are ways with that background to be sure. But we gonna cut this baby up and make beautiful pieces that will find their way all over this little o' book.

Here's why this is so 'magical. It's not just that we are using pigment powder that truly hold a certain power to them. It's the fact we can take simple paper, build it with color and text, and then allow it to become a beautiful element all on it's own.
