happy july.

7.01.2008

can it really be july? i promised myself to be so much more on target with posts in june...and sadly it is july. the year is half way over. summer is well under way. still have family vacation to get to. and all those fab beach photos to make into fun projects and stories. is it bad i look forward to that part more than the trip? it's just that when you have little ones you are vacationing with half way around the country, it is not a vacation for the mom...it's a trip. and the rest of them get to vacation. so, am attempting to promise myself to take little quiet breaks here and there and walk and read and allow others to be with the kids. in a house of 19 people will it even be possible? well, the beach is a big place. if you can't find me, that is where i will be.

a little eye candy above. my monthly wall art celebrating this country's birthday. i also made the jenni bowlin star project. will post that one later. that was a fun project as i did not have to think, just got to follow directions yet still be creative. sometimes one needs that.

so, for now, have a fab first day of july.
supplies: paper: jenni bowlin trendy line. scenic route liberty. paper flower: april wip kit. gem: making memories. number tag: everyjotandtitle-etsy. large eyelet: we r memory keepers. stamp: stampin up. chipboard stars: stampin up. glitter: jenni bowlin. chipboard letters: making memories.

some creative time:

the patterned paper used here is mostly from jenni bowlin and the february kit. i knew then i wanted to use butterflies sometime in the spring to celebrate the new season. so i grabbed this kit, which is hard to do because her's always sell out. but it was a great buy and this wall art came together fairly well. obviously, joy is the word for the month. with a pre-teen in the house, this is a virtue to be practiced all the time.

this canvas is totally lifted from ali edwards life artist book. her canvases in there are to envy. i made the butterfly masks myself, as well as mixed the paint to get that orangy-rusty color found in the jenni bowlin kit. this is my favorite home decor piece for the month.

framed joy...i used heidi swapp chipboard and covered in jenni bowlin paper, except for the 'o', it is scenic route and stamped in really rust (stampin up) with a butterfly image (hero arts). the textured orangy paper is also from the jenni bowlin kit. it has a beautiful shimmer that is not picked up in the photo. the 'j' is dotted with an american craft plastic flower and making memories brad. the 'o' has a butterfly punched from jb paper with a martha stewart paper punch. the 'y' has a bit of dotted ribbon wrapped around it with a felt flower (stampin up) and another silver brad. i forgot how much i love shadow boxes. think before the week is through i am going to case the butterfly art ali e did a while back for weekend creative...so pretty.

a great thing...susan took the girls today for the afternoon after our meeting. a treat for me. seth and i picked up eric so they could have the afternoon together. they had a blast. this allowed for me to complete and ready to ship the paper crafts projects. they are due friday. i am pushing the envelope a little. am a little unsure about the love letters. let's hope they ship okay.
it was just so great to have a couple of hours to focus on them and not worry if the littler ones were being tended to. this happens so rarely, and so that was why it was such a treat. plus, the girls loved being with their friends. a great combination.
