So if you know me even a little at all...
you know I don't do purple.
Go ahead. Laugh. It's alright.
I am confident in my no purple stance.
So I HAD to make myself step outside of myself and work this lilac card stock that was part of the August Work In Progress kit.
And I am guesting over there today...so go take a peak...won't you?

file folder mania
5.29.2012
Remembering this post here from the May WIPkits...
Well today I am posting over at WIPkits blog with this to say::
about how I took these three layouts...
and made them an interactive single 12x12 project...
See how all the pages peak out from underneath each other?
In line with my little personal file folder obsession these days, I made these three layouts into one layout by making it interactive.
The three of them are stacked on top of each other, and then attached to a 12x12 piece of card stock.
Masking tape was used to simply bind the separate layouts together.
Here is a look at the third and final page against the 12x12.
Now I will either place the whole layout into a 12x12 page protector and add it to our ProjectLife2012 album in one piece...
or I can slit the 12x12 allowing the pages to open freely while the foundation of the page rests in it's page protector. Either way would work perfect for me.
Really like how to tell a story like this with multiple photos yet in a file folder format.
You may be seeing more of the same. {wink}.
project life~ week 12 & 13
4.18.2012
welcome to project life. week 12&13.
In my quest to set standards for myself that I am able to keep, I did a bit of modifying these past weeks to my projectLife pursuit.
It seems I am not the only one that hit a bit of a slump by the time week 12 rolled around. Seems us already busy moms were hit with Spring Break and Easter Vacations not to mention the Easter celebration itself. So, I know I stand in very good company as I found myself behind and feeling compelled to catch up.
So I opted for single page layouts for a single week.
It's what I did last year.
And frankly...I think I am still able to tell a fabulous story, even though I have limited myself to a single side.
I would be remiss to show that I did, however, include a 6x12 layout documenting a day of riding at the stables with dear friends. My girls love of these four legged creatures always requires me to show that event off in a bigger way. Plus, it was a fabulous way to utilize elements from the April WIPkit that was made for pL.
This is the second side...with lots of journaling.
And speaking of limiting myself...I also practiced the art, especially on the week13 side, of using products/papers/elements that were right there within my reach.
Using scraps if you will.
Limiting myself to what was right there in front of me.
Oh...how I do love that self-limitation.
I need to do that in other areas of my life...but that is another post.
Thank you for stopping in. Would love to hear from you.
now go. create.

project life ~ week.nine.
3.15.2012
welcome to project life ~ week.nine.
I would have to be honest and say I have dropped off a little in my excitement for pL.
well...that is until I got to work on the week's story.
When one enters creativity, creativity begins.
And so that is a habit I continue to cultivate in my life...
the one of entering into a project even when I don't 'feel' like it.
March brings with it a new series of week/date journal block.
I dove into the Spring Circus kits by RhonnaDESIGNS on this one and am having a fabulous time creating theses blocks.
There are smatterings of Spring Circus used throughout the week.
As well as date spots and journaling cards from...well...I lost who they were from. But they were free. When I find the proper credit I will update that information...yikes!
(if you knew what conditions i was working in right now...you would just plain feel sorry for me.)
I still love how Trish over at WIPkits does her thematic pages.
Our book simply highlights the weeks happenings. gifts. events. traditions. the simple everyday.
Page one will always have the toddler boy's pic of the week at the top.
This week also included a funny one of him eating berry coffee cake and loving.it.
Also Mr. Pate's ever amazing sunday menu.
The oldest girl and her phase II-part II of braces. (have i ever shared we always have no less than two children with ortho work happening? am i getting the pity yet?)
oh...and the fabulous opportunity to hear Eric Metaxas speak and my Dad having his book signed.
A look at page two...
I continue to use stash of patterned cardststock to mat the pockets with. Really enjoying making each pocket it's own little layout.
Also included some word art recently included in a WIPkit. Love how they add a bit of what I am thinking at this point in my life. Trish is great about including these every once in a while in her kits. I love them in my pL.
Often I am finding when I have not planned journaling space well, I just write on the photo. Adds to the eclectic and 'scrappy' feel of the page.
Thanks so much for your visit.
Hope the rest of your week is fab!

delight
11.01.2011
it's taking me a while.
too long in fact.
i was asked recently what delights me.
what delights you?
i fear the answer too long has been..."i don't know".
denial.
far too long in fact i have denied myself what delights me.
this is deeper than asking me 'what do you want?
delight reaches to the soul.

de·light [di lite]
n (plural de·lights)
| 1. | joy: great enjoyment and pleasure To my delight, he accepted. to my delight i need to accept more of that which brings delight. i delight in beauty. i delight in photos that render emotion. i delight in texture. i delight in color that calms and soothes. i delight, indeed, with a project that causes me great delight in the process.. and then i delight in the completion. this 'true beauty' mini album was created using the november work in progress project kit. the pages cascade on top of the other. it allows for texture and color to peek through from underneath adding interest to the mini book. the foundation started with the 6x6 My Mind's Eye patterned papers. a wallet size photo was added. layers of tags, mini flags, seam binding, and little bags was added at random. and the theme "the beauty of"...was added to most pages. finding the simplicity of beauty in the face of a baby. of brother and brother. time in the back country... and more... watch for my post this month over at work in progress for the rest of the mini book. hoping you delight in your day. |
